International Islamic University Islamabad

Introduction

The foundation of the University was laid on the first day of the 15th Hijrah Century, Muharram 1, 1401 (November 11, 1980). This landmark of the beginning of the new Century Symbolize the aspirations and hopes of the Muslim Ummah for an Islamic renaissance. The desire to produce scholars and practitioners, imbued with Islamic learning, character and personality, and capable to meet the economic, social, political, and intellectual needs of modern times is the aim of this university.

The University began as “Islamic University” with only 9 students in its LL.M degree Program and classes being held at the Campus of Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad. The University was upgraded, restructured and reconstituted as “International Islamic University” with the promulgation of the International Islamic University Ordinance by the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in March 1985.

With 9 faculties and 5 autonomous academies, institutes and centers the University is conducting around 58 academic programs with enrollment of over 11,000 students that include around 4,500 girl students.

The International Islamic University is a unique institution of higher learning which integrates the two parallel streams of religious and other education systems prevailing in the Muslim world. It provides a system based on universal Islamic principles capable of responding to present day needs and requirements.

Facilities

To reserve the students the IIUI has many Facilities as bellow:

• Computer Labs


There are three large size computer labs fully equipped with the latest IT accessories. It also holds a rich library containing a vast collection of books. The campus is one of the best-kept in town and is located at a very convenient location.



Language Laboratories


The University maintains two separate language laboratories for Arabic and English Departments wich well equipped with modren techniques of teaching the languages to the students. The teachers who skilfully use the laboratory techniques and supplement classroom teaching in listening and training skills.



Library


University maintains six well equipped Libraries in all fields of Islamic Ulum. Specialized Library for Research Scholars is being maintained in the Islamic Research Institute. Also Departmental Libraries are provided with all important texts and recommended books. Besides, reading material is made available by the Photostat Service Units on the recommendations of teachers. And Book Bank in the main Campus of the university lending books to the students on semester basis.
The Faculty of Management Science has its own library with journals, periodicals and books on all aspects of management, computer and IT education. The library is being continuously updated with the latest editions of relevant books.



Hostel


Hostel accommodation for limited number of students is available. There four hostels for Boys. Two Hostels for girl’s students are available at the Women Campus at New Campus H-10 Sector, Islamabad. The students may however be aware that getting a seat in hostel is not a right automatically attached to admission. It is conditional on the availability of seat. Special consideration is given to students from Muslim minority countries.


Medical Care


The Medical Centres for male and female students under the care of qualified doctors for free treatment of minor ailments. Cases of serious nature are referred to Government Hospitals in Islamabad for hospitalization and treatment which is free of cost for the bonafide students of the University. The Centre has also set up a laboratory to conduct various tests. The Medical Centre has an ambulance at its disposal to meet any emergency.



Banking Facility


For payments, receipt and remittances, the Habib Bank Limited maintain two branches in the old as well as in the new campus of the University. Profit and Loss Saving Bank accounts are opened and deposits accepted under normal banking procedures. The Bank welcomes the students to open their personal accounts and render them all banking service with courtesy and consideration. All students admitted to the University are advised to open their accounts with this bank. This also helps in their transactions with the University.



Financial Support


Limited funds, mostly received from donations and Zakat are available for extremely deserving students for the award of financial assistance. These awards may only supplement a part of the total expenses. Candidates applying for admission and their parents/guardians must be prepared to defray full or substantial part of the expenses themselves.



Sports & Recreation


The University has started a modest program in Hostels for indoor games. Volley ball, basket ball and football, cricket, athletics and other activities such as hiking, trekking and recovering etc. are also arranged to provide recreation and ensure physical well being of students.



Transport


The own transport facilities and is also connected with Public and Private Transport system. Students living in Rawalpindi/Islamabad are provided the facility of conveyance at concessional rates subject to limited routes.



Post Office


There is a branch of Post office on the premises of the old campus of the University. Postal Stamps vending and Registration, Money Order remittance services are provided during working hours. Public Call Office is also available. Establishment of a branch of Post Office on the Premises of New Campus is in process.

Submission of Application Form

However such candidates will have to deposit Rs. 150/- at the time of submission of application forms and get a copy of the brochure. In case of any trouble send email to admissions@iiu.edu.pk to receive admission form through email.
Application Form/prospectus can be purchased against payment of Rs. 150/- from

Admission form can be obtained through post by sending self addressed envelop of size 10” x 12”) along with draft of Rs. 200/- to Admission Office Room 107-A, IIUI, H-10, campus Islamabad Ph: 9257988.

Candidates holding Deeni Madrasa certificates from recognized and registered Wifaqs are required to submit equivilence from IBCC or HEC in respective cases. It may be noted that the Deeni Sanad ‘Khasa’ is not equivalent to intermediate without passing Urdu, English and Pakistan Studies. Vide HEC Letter No. Ref.5-3/HEC/A&A/2006, dated: 28-04-2006.

In all programs admissions are restricted to limited seats. Only those who fulfill the basic eligibility and pass the entrance test will be considered on merit.

Duly signed application form in duplicate completed in all respect along with attested copies of academic record and a draft of Rs. 500/- in favour of International Islamic University, Islamabad as non refundable admission processing fee must be submitted or reach IIUI before 10-01-2008 on the following addresses:

Hostels

Although IIUI has several hostels for male and female students, but due to immense pressure, all the admitted students cannot be accommodated. Admission in the university doesn’t confer the right to admission in the hostel. Overseas students and students for outside Pindi/Islamabad are given preference.

Code of Conduct

Students shall be required to observe the dress code/uniform and basic Islamic tenets.
